Research of the Key technology of Distant Hybridization between Bamboo and Rice

Abstract: This research is using the technology of distant hybridization between rice and bamboo, then, gets the new breeds of bamboo-rice, No.966 and No.989, which apply to farming in China for the first time. The followings are the key technologies. 1. To grasp the characteristic of the flower nursery of green bamboo. That is from March to June every year. The peak period is from 5 to 7 every morning. The pollen will die of if the temperature is beyond 25℃. 2. Choosing the best female parent and the best period to pollinate and inseminate. Wikstroemia F4 was used as the female parent. First, they were mantled after they had been treated for 3-4 minutes by heat water of 45℃-46℃ at 5 a..m and kill the male pollen of rice. Then the pollen of the green bamboo was supposed to be collected to pollinate the maternal plant twice or three times. Then, mantle them immediately. 3. To steep the biennial root of the first generation hybrid in colchicines of 0.05% for three hours. 4. To backcross the complex of the two kinds of bamboo-rice repeatedly. The parts that cannot ignore: to know well the characteristics of the flower nursery of green bamboo, choosing the best female parent and the best period to pollinate. tiller seeding of persistent root of first filial generation were steeped in colchicines of 0.05% for three hours, the complex of the two kinds of bamboo-rice were backcrossed, hybridized repeatedly.
