Abstract: Yam(Dioscorea) was an efficient cash crop ,it’s tuber can used to be food and medicine. Studied on the botany, physiology, yield and quality analysis of yam resources, selected a new yam variety “Guihuai No.6” from native resources. “Guihuai No.6”was a forward ,high yield ,high content of Fe, Zn and middling content of starch and rich mineral nutrition variety. This paper introduced the breeding selection process of the new yam variety “Guihuai No.6,it’s characteristic and planting technique.
