An Analysis on Consumer Awareness of Safe Food and Purchase Behavior

Abstract: Abstract: Based on data from a survey on fresh food consumption in Shanghai, this paper analyzes consumer awareness and purchase behavior of safety food. The results indicate that consumers concern about safety food and awareness levels are high but no deep understanding. In the factor analysis of awareness and purchase behavior for safety food, the variables such as gender, age, marriage, income, family scale all affect consumer’s awareness and purchase behavior for safe food. In the end, the paper suggests government should promote publicity of safe food, develop market for safe food and provide subsidy for production and management marketing of safe food.
