Abstract: 【OBJECTIVE】 The experiment was conducted to study the effects of nano-zinc oxide on the production performance and dressing performance of broiler.【METHOD】 One hundred and ninety-two Arbor Acres (AA) broilers at the age of 1day old were randomly divided into 4 treatments. All treatments were replicated 4 times, using 12 birds per pen. The supplementation of nano-zinc oxide was 0(the control), 40, 80, 120mg/kg for each treatment, respectively. The experiment lasted 6 weeks.【RESULTS】 The experiment results were as follows: During the whole experiment, the difference of the average weight gain was not significant(P>0.05) between the groups of adding nano-zinc and the control. From 1 to 21d, the feed consumption decreased significantly at the level of 40mg/kg of nano-zinc oxide (P<0.05), the feed/gain(F/G) was extremely significant(P<0.01). From 22 to 42d, the F/G decreased significantly at the level of 40mg/kg of nano-zinc oxide (P<0.05). On the 21st and 42nd day, 12 broilers in each group were selected randomly and slaughtered, and slaughter performances were determined. The results showed that the experimental groups did not influence significantly on dressing performance at 21d, but the experimental groups were higher than the control group in all indexes. The slaughter percentage of the broiler with nano-zinc oxide at the level of 40mg/kg was extremely higher than the control group(P<0.01)at 42d. The half eviscerated percentage of the broiler was extremely higher than the control group(P<0.05). The difference of eviscerated percentage, abdominal fat percentage, leg muscle percentage and breast muscle percentage of the broiler between the experimental groups and the control group was not significant (P>0.05).【CONCLUSION】In conclusion, the nano-zinc oxide can promote the production performance and dressing performance at the level of 40mg/kg.
