Abstract: Current status of genetically modified (GM) trees in China was summarized in this paper by reviewing the research progresses (GM) trees, including the recipient system, transformation methods and target genes. The general situation of application and commercial use of trees, risk assessment and safety management were also described. Meanwhile, by noting existing problems, some suggestions were proposed on strengthening risk assessment and safety management of GM trees in China.
