Effects of Boron application methods on growth, Leaf yield and quality of Yunyan87(Nicotiana tabacum. L)

Abstract: A field experiment was conducted to study the effects of boron(B) application methods on the growth, leaf yield and quality of flue-cured tobacco, the results indicated that, compared to the treatments of applying boron(B) to tobacco plants basically or no B fertilizer application, the tobacco plants applied B by foliage dressing had higher growth potential, and produced much more tobacco leaf and better leaf quality. The tobacco plants foliar sprayed B whole plants gave much more output, and higher 12.4%、56.1%、37.3%、48.1% than that of foliar sprayed on the central leaves, upper leaves or lower leaves. Foliar spraying B promoted potassium uptake by plants, transforming from slowly available potassium to available potassium, and had a positive effects on adjusting and controlling the total sugar, potassium accumulation and nicotine in cutters.
