The Investigation of the Adaptability of Taiwan Guava in Zhangzhou

Abstract: The characteristics of biology,the adaptability and the economic profit of three varieties of gavar, which are all introduced from Taiwan have been investigated. The results showed that all of the three varieties are suitable for growing in Zhangzhou,especially the Pearl (Averrhoa carambola L. cv. Pearl). It’s average weight is 422.1 g, firmness of fruit is 9.0kg/cm2, soluble solids are 12.6%, total acids are 0.21%, Vc is 88.92mg/100g, the content of total sugars are 6.7% and reductive sugars are 2.98%. The Pearl fruits all year round, with excellent quality and the price of 5~6yuan/kg. And some cultivation techniques of it are introduced in this paper.
