Abstract: Abstract：The powdery mildew resistant line P045 with Pm21 developed by Cytogeneties Institute，Nanjing Agricultural University，was used as donor parent to backcross with recurrent parents Yangmai 158, Ningmai 9, and the rolling convergent backcross strategy and traditional identification method combined with MAS for powdery mildew resistance was utilized to breed new varies with resistance to powdery mildew. A new soft wheat variety Yangmai 18 with high yield and powdery mildew resistance was developed and registered in 2008 by this method. In two years regional yield test of Anhui province, Yangmai 18 showed high powdery mildew resistance, good soft wheat quality and better yield with 8.1% increasing than check variety．It is suitable to grow in the middle-lower Yangtze River region．
