Abstract:
To study determination of the meiofaunal biomass, the phytal meiofauna of the two species on seaweeds was surveyed from October to December 2004 at rocky intertidal zone in Taipingjiao Qingdao. The biomass of each meiofauna group was estimated; at the same time the dry weight and the ATP content of the dominant species of nematodes was measured. Twelve meiofauna groups were collected from the two species of seaweeds in total, of which nematodes and copepods were the dominant groups. The abundance and biomass of the phytal meiofauna was 518.95 inds./g algae and 1270.05 μg/g algae on the average, respectively. The values of dry weight of the different nematodes species ranged from 0.14 to 32.65μg/ind., the ATP content from 1.18 to 297.64 ng/ind., the ratio of Carbon/ATP from 43:1 to 99:1.
