Abstract:

Aluminum (Al) toxicity is the major factor limiting crop production on acidic soils. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most Al resistant species among the small-grain cereal crops, but the mechanisms for Al tolerance are still poorly understood. In the present review, we summarized the symptoms of Al toxicity, the mechanisms of plant to Al tolerance, and the recent progress on the molecular mechanisms underlying Al tolerance in rice.
