Abstract:

Abstract: The effects of chitosan supported Cu(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ) complexes on some physiological characteristics of seed germination and salt-tolerance of seedling growth of maize were investigated, seed and seedlings were treated with chitosan supported Cu(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ) complexes solution and 120 mmolL-1 NaCl solution. The results showed that chitosan supported Cu(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ) complexes solution increase seed germination percentage, germination index and salt tolerance index. Under salt stress conditions, the increment speed of proline content、the reduction velocity of chlorophyll content、the reduction velocity of soluble protein content and the increment speed of soluble sugar content decreased, the increment speed of SOD activities increased in stressed seedlings. It was suggested that chitosan supported Cu(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ) complexes solution improve the salt tolerance of seedlings in maize.
