Abstract: Agrostis stolonifera new strain Yue Xuan No.1 was derived from Penncross -cultivar in old green. The green-turf character such as density, green leaf covering, leaf senescence index, content of ascorbic acid was higher significantly than Penncross, and relative membrane permeability was lower in summer in Guangzhou area. Under constant high temperature stress(36℃), the dissociated proline content in leaves of Yue xuan No.1 increased significantly, but that of Penncross did not start increasing significantly until the third day of stress, and the dissociated proline content in leaves of Yue xuan No.1 was higher than that of Penncross. The soluble protein content in leaves of Yue xuan No.1 increased under higher temperature stress, and was higher than that of Penncross, but that of Penncross decreased significantly from the second day of stress. The soluble sugar content in stolon of Yue xuan No.1 increased under stress, and the soluble sugar content of Penncross was higher than that of Yue xuan No.1 the fifth day of stress. The starch content in stolon of Yue xuan No.1 was higher than that of Penncross. There has no significant effects on relative water content and chlorophyll content in leaves under high temperature stress.
