Abstract: Field experiments were conducted to study the effects of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the yield and quality of balsam pear(Momordica charantia L).The results showed that the N,P ,K and their proper combined application could significantly increase the balsam pear yield. N fertilizer could increase the content of crude protein and amino acid and decrease Vc and soluble sugar content. P fertilizer could increase the content of crude protein and soluble sugar. K fertilizer could increase the content of Vc, solube sugar, amino acid and alleviate unfavorably effect of unsuitable N application. The adequate K supply and optimum N, P and K combination could ensure the high-quality and high-yield production of balsam pear.
