Abstract:
Antimicrobial peptides from the red blood cell of Chinese Holstein were isolated by ion exchange chromatography and reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Antimicrobial activity of purified peptide was tested by agrose radial diffusion assay. The results showed that the cation peak acquired by ion exchange chromatography had antimicrobial activity. 8 peaks acquired by RP-HPLC based on the activity distribution zone, which had the activity against E coli; peak F1, F3, F4, F5, F6 and F8 had the activity against Staphylococcus aureus; peak F2, F4, F5, F6 and F8 had the activity against Candida albicans. The results suggested that Antimicrobial peptides were isolated and purified successfully from bovine red blood cell and antimicrobial peptide of peak F6 had broad antibacterial spectrum and good antimicrobial activity.
