Abstract:

After decades of development, major successes have been achieved in the construction of town in China. However, during the development, there came some problems, such as the regional economy grows difference to expand ceaselessly, the extensive mode of economic development of China's economic structure was still more prominent, be lack of appropriate positioning and strong industrial support and so on, which led the small towns in middle and west China develop slowly, the agro-products lack competition ability on the international market and the farmers can not share of the fruits of urbanization. In this paper, after analyzing the current situation and the characteristic of agro-industry, as well as economic demand in town development, based on Growth Pole Theory – one of the theories of Regional Economy, the paper gave the suggestion that the way to promote small towns is to develop agro-industry, and forward some countermeasures in the last.
