Abstract:

Abstract: Physiological response to cold stress in transplastomic Atfad8 tobacco plants and non-transgenic tobacco plants were investigated at 5℃ temperature. The result showed that the content of Malonaldehyde (MDA) and activity of POD under 5℃ treatments were increased, while the activity of SOD and CAT were decreased with the time. Under the cold stress, the activities of POD, SOD and CAT in transplastomic tobacco plants were obviously higher than those in the non-transgenic tobacco plants. The contents of MDA in transplastomic tobacco plants were obviously lower than those in the non-transgenic tobacco plants. The results showed that over expressing Atfad8 gene in chloroplast genome improved the chlling resistance ability of plants.
