Abstract:
Three Herpetogramma species were firstly reported to feed Alternanthera philoxeroides (Mart.) Griseb. in Changsha. The Herpetogramma submarginalis recorded from China and the Herpetogramma fuscescens from Mainland China for the first time. Based on the survey in the field, the three Herpetogramma species fed largely on the terrestrial-type of A. philoxeroides, and significantly restrained the spread for the terrestrial-type of A. philoxeroides. The morphological and biological characteristics of the three Herpetogramma species are described briefly, and photographs of adults and genitalia are provided in this paper.
