Abstract:

In order to evaluate the breeding utilization of photo-thermo-sensitive genic male sterile mutant lines with greenable albino leaf, the inheritance and main agronomic traits of six photo-thermo-sensitive genic male sterile lines with greenable albino leaf were investigated. The results indicated that six mutants may be divided into three types: albino to pale-green type (21W4), albino regreening type (21W7, 21W9 and 21W13) and albino to kelly type (21W1 and 21W10).The mutated green-revertible albino leaf color trait of 21W1 was controlled by a single dominant gene, and those others were all controlled by a single recessive gene. These mutants were different with “SE21S” in plant height, second leave from top, No.of productive number, heading day, width of floret, single-outcrossing rate and total outcrossing rate, and they had similar fertility characteristics to the corresponding male sterile line “SE21S”. The hybrids of these mutants had similar caracteristics with original-hybrids in plant type and height, but their yield components were different with different mutants, the hybrids of 21W4, 21W9 and 21W10 had better yield potential compared with original-hybrids and maybe they had better breeding application prospects.
