Abstract:

[OBJECTIVE] The genetic characteristics of Chili pepper F2 generation, which from F1 generation with ion implantation were observed. [METHOD] Five groups of chili pepper seeds were selected to sow in the field, which biological mutation occurred in F1 generation. Then the major phenotype changes in F2 were observed. The biochemical changes caused by ion implantation were analyzed by determination of peroxidase isozyme. [RESULT] Implanting one side of the seeds with 9×1011P2+/cm2 the other side with 1×1012 Cu2+/cm2contributed to the continued superiority in yield per plant while the other 4 control groups failed to stably inherit the superior qualities of F1 generation. [CONCLUSION] The prominent biological characters induced in the seeds of group No.21 were relatively stably inherited, indicating the value of continuing breeding and further selection.
