Abstract:

Anthocyanidins, flavonols and vacuole pH contained in different lily cultivars were analyzed to determine the suitable ones into which blue genes will be transformed. Ten pink to mauve lily cultivars were screened initially by visual observation. High performance liquid chromatography was employed for qualitative and quantitative analysis of anthocyaindins and flavonols , and the vacuole pH was measured. The grey correlation analysis was used for lily cultivars’ comprehensive evaluation. Only cyanidin is detected as anthocyanidins, and kaempferol and quercetin as flavonols. The delphinidin, pelargonidin and myricetin are absent. Lilium tenuifolium oriental x tumpet ‘Robina’ and Lilium tenuifolium oriental ‘Bernini’ are selected for their higher vacuolar pH, higher flavonol content and lower cyanidin content.
