Abstract:

In order to develop new hybrids which grow vigorous, bear fruit better, have high resistant disease. Thirty-two ornamental pumpkins were introduced from home and abroad, and the botanical characteristics were investigated. Twenty-two accessions which had steady and ornamental value were selected by observing the phenotype of self progeny. Twelve hybrids of ornamental pumpkin were bred, ‘Huangtaizi’, ‘Baixuegongzhu’, ‘Fozhong’, ‘Huaguan’, ‘Qianshou’, ‘Hualian’, ‘Feidie’, ‘Zhaoyang’, ‘Dalingdang’, ‘Xiaojinyu’, ‘Longnv’ and ‘Fuxing’. New cultivars were popularized and applied in many places, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Anhui, Hebei, Heilongjang and Shouguang in Shandong province.
