Study on Agricultural Eco-Compensation in Erhai Catchment

Abstract:

Taking Erhai catchment in Yunnan as a research object, based on the project demonstration towards agricultural non-point source pollution prevention and control, the agro-ecological compensation mechanism of Erhai catchment was studied. With the compensation subject as Dali Prefecture government while the compensation object as farmers in the watershed, testing the compensated ways of funding compensation, technical compensation, intellectual compensation, etc, making the implementation of planting industrial construction modulation and livestock and poultry waste utilization and regeneration, good and active demonstrated effects were showed, such as availably reducing the discharge of nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants, lowering down the livestock and poultry waste pollution to Erhai water body, strengthening the acquaintance of farmers and technical people by publicizing and training. Finally, some suggestions that included increasing compensation investment, enlarging compensation range, detailing compensation criteria, gradually establishing agro-ecological mechanism that adapted to the continuous development of agriculture in Erhai catchment were proposed.
