Abstract:

The research purpose on effect of potassium nutrition on maize seedling growth was to give scientific evidences for improving the yield and quality of maize and higher efficient potassium fertilizer utilization. The different potassium concentration was conducted on three different varieties (‘Zhengdan958’, ‘Jidan 419’and ‘Simi21’) of maize seedlings by hydroponic culture experiments. The results showed that with potassium concentration reducing, the plant height, ground freshweight, underground freshweight, potassium content and chlorophyll content decreased, however, proline content, malondialdehyde (MDA) content and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity increased; at without K treatment, the all maize seedlings growth were the worst..
