Abstract: Through the review of domestic literature on urban agriculture in recent years, the thesis studies the differences and relations between urban agriculture and suburban agriculture, the research field of urban agriculture, the relations between urban agriculture and other related new styles of agriculture, the origin of urban agriculture, the features of urban agriculture and the estimating system of urban agriculture. On the basis of clarifying the above basic issues, the thesis put forwards that the conception and meaning of agriculture should be recognized, urban agriculture is a weaker industry that should be protected, urban agriculture has the feature of public goods, in the process of urban agriculture’s development, government should strengthen the legislation of urban agriculture, protect the land use for urban agriculture, increase the expenditure on the infrastructure of urban agriculture, set up the financial mechanism of urban agriculture and foster the talents majored in agricultural fields.
