Abstract: China is the third biggest banana producers in the world. Banana industry plays more and more important role in tropical economy and rural development. This article summarizes the achievements, opportunities and advantages of Chinese banana industry. It points out the problems and disadvantages in the development of banana industry, such as unreasonable planting structures, unorganized and uncoordinated production, weaker natural disaster resistant ability of banana plantation, deficient science and technology support, weaker banana products processing capacity and lower degrees of quality standards construction. This article puts forward the countermeasures such as continuing to implement banana industry upgrading plans of the Agricultural Ministry, creating famous brands, implementing industrialization management, implementing banana deep processing and comprehensive development strategy, improving scientific and technological innovation and extension system and strengthening quality safety management.
