Abstract:

Ten one-year-old clones of Lagerstroemia indica L. were selected as the experimental materials, in order to provide a trial exploration for the relationship between its water parameters in late autumn and cold resistance and the water parameters (ψ , RWC0, ψ and εmax) were measured by P-V technology before leaf abscission in late autumn. The fatty acid composition of cell membrane was analysed by gas chromatography and the cold resistance had been comprehensively assessed according to the dynamic changes of relative conductivity, soluble sugar, SOD and POD activities in winter. The data revealed that the most of water parameters had different correlation degrees with the cold resistance indexes in different periods of winter and the comprehensive assessments. Concretely, ψ andεmax had significant correlation and ψ had unconspicuous correlation with cold resistance indexes in different periods of winter, while RWC0 had not. ψ andεmax had extreme significant correlation andψ had significant correlation with the comprehensive assessment, while RWC0 had not.
