Abstract:

In order to provide new method to develop botanical attractant for controlling and monitoring S. yasunatsui, with 6 cultivars of jujube leaves and buds as test materials, the author studied the host orientation mechanism of adults Scythropus yasunatsui. The clear air was set as control, the behavior responses of adults of S. yasunatsui to volatiles emanating from 6 cultivars of jujube leaves and buds were measured by using a Y-tube olfactometer in the laboratory. The results showed that response rates of S. yasunatsui to volatiles emanating from 6 cultivars of jujube leaves were 53.57%-57.58%, and volatiles emitted from 6 cultivars of jujube leaves had not obvious attractant to all adults (P>0.05). While response rates of S. yasunatsui to volatiles emanating from Zanhuang jujube buds, Huping jujube buds and Jun bud were above 68%, these volatiles of buds were more attractive significantly than the control to adults of S. yasunatsui (P<0.05).
