The Impact of Refrigeration on the Emergence Rate and Life of Diaeretiella rapae (M'Intosh)

Abstract:

The paper researched that different temperatures, rigescent levels and icedstorage influenced on the emergence rate and life of D. rapae in order to define the best refrigeration condition. We refrigerated rigescent insect state of D. rapae under different temperature (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 ℃) and different rigescent stage (about 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 days). The results showed that the emergence rate of D. rapae dropped with the extension of refrigeration period. The insect stage about 4, 5 days of rigescent stage was more suitable to refrigerate under 4-5℃. At 6 ℃, parts of samples made eclosion during refrigeration. When the refrigeration period was 5, 15 days, it could live about 2-3 days. If the refrigeration period was 25 days, its life was about 1-2 days. So D. rapae pupa of rigescent stage about 4-5 days was the most suitable to refrigerate under 4-5℃.
