Study on Development Status and Strategies of Organic Agriculture in Yangzhou, Jiangsu

Abstract: In order to understand the development status of organic agriculture in Yangzhou of Jiangsu province, the study was conducted to survey organic matter, pH in the soil, rice yield with no fertilizers and distribution, scale and the types and yield of agricultural products in the range of whole city, but also investigated areas and benefit of a few organic agricultural zones. The results indicated that organic matter, pH and rice yield with no fertilizers in soil were 28.3 g/kg, 7.0 and 5760 kg/hm2, respectively. Total areas of organic agricultural zone were 2610 hm2, and the type of products included rice, vegetable, kiwi fruit, grape and tea, and benefits of the organic agriculture were 36.5%-113.5% higher than that of the traditional agriculture. It detailed the main technical measures, fertilization structures, and the problems of organic agriculture were described, moreover, the strategies were suggested to provide a reference for the organic agriculture in Yangzhou.
