Abstract: In order to study the impact of different planting densities of early maturing maize‘Jindan No. 84’growth traits and quality, we take new varieties of early maturing maize‘Jindan No. 84’as experimental material, the effect of different planting density on yield, agronomic traits and quality were studied under the five different planting density conditions. Planting density respectively were 45000 plants/hm2, 52500 plants/ hm2, 60000 plants/hm2, 67500 plants/hm2. The results showed that, the yield of‘Jindan No. 84’first increased and then decreased with the increasing of planting density, when the density of 67500 plants/hm2 achieved the highest yield of 12825.8 kg/hm2. With the increasing of planting density, the protein and crude fat contents in‘Jindan No. 84’decreased and the highest starch content of 73.4% at 67500 plants/hm2. This experimental in order to determine the optimum density of‘Jindan No. 84’in central Shanxi Province, and provide a scientific basis for high-yield cultivation.
