Abstract: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the anti-acute inflammation effect on total flavonoids from opuntia in mice. The ear edema method, increase of capillary permeability and paw edema method were used to study the anti-acute inflammation effect on flavonoid from opuntia in mice. The results showed that the ear swelling degree in every dose group mice was significantly different compared to control mice (P<0.01). The OD values in every dose group mice was significantly different from control mice in the experiment of increase of capillary permeability (P<0.01). The paw swelling degree at 0.5-2 h in every dose group mice was significantly different compared to control mice in the experiment of paw edema (P<0.01). But the paw swelling degree at 3 h was not significantly different from control group. In conclusion, opuntia total flavonoids has great inhibition on swelling reaction and increase of capillary permeability. It has the effect of deturgescence and exudation in the local inflammatory reaction, presenting anti-acute inflammation effect.
