Abstract: Aiming at understanding the cold resistance of tea gemplasms resources in Fujian province, 34 tea germplasms was preliminarily indentified with electrical conductivity method, freezer method, natural field method and synthetic order preference method. The result showed that these tea germplasms were affected significantly during different low temperature. Slight damage was observed from tea germplasms when air temperature was -6℃.When air temperature was -9℃, 17.6% tea germplasms were freezed injuredly. When air temperature was -12℃, 67.6% tea germplasms were freezed injuredly. However, the result also showed that great differences of cold resistance and adaptability were observed during 34 tea germplasms. The chilling resistance of local tea germplasms was great different, but the chilling resistance of new hybrid lines was between two parents. Low critical temperature of tea germplasms was under -9℃.In conclusion, these tea germplasms belonging to more resistance to chilly type, were suitable to be planted in tea area in the south of the Yang tze River and the southern part of China.
