Polymorphism of POU1F1 Gene Intron2 and Its Genetic Effects in Duck

Abstract: This study aimed to detect the polymorphism of POU1F1 gene and its genetic effects on Brown Tsaiya Duck. PCR-SSCP method was applied in this study to detect the polymorphisms of POU1F1 gene in Brown Tsaiya Duck, and analyze the association of polymorphisms with production traits of Brown Tsaiya Duck. The results showed that POU1F1 intron 2 was consisted of 3 genotypes (AA, Aa, aa). 2 SNPs loci (A3980T, A3988G) were detected. This site belongs to low polymorphism, and the result of ?2 indicated that this site was in state of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Both egg shape index and body weight at 4th week of AA genotype were significantly higher than that of aa (P<0.05), while three kinds of genotypes had no significant effect on other indexes (P>0.05). The results suggested that the SNPs had certain effect on egg shape index and body weight at 4th week, and might be a good marker for production traits in Brown Tsaiya Duck.
