Abstract: To effectively using the F2 and F2BC1 progenies of E. fulvus in sugarcane breeding for new sugarcane cultivars selection or the old sugarcane cultivars modification, it is necessary to further study the chromosomal transmission of parents in the hybrids. The root- tips of different generation clones were collected, treated following the wall degradation hypotonic method, and prepared the slides used for chromosome counting of somatic cells. The results showed that, all of the chromosome numbers of hybrids were variable in different somatic cells, and chromosomes of parents were transmitted by“2n+n”into the somatic cells of F2 hybrid and“n+n”into F2BC1 hybrids. The results of current study can provide cytological information for the further use of these hybrids in sugarcane breeding programs.
