Research on Principle and Precision of Tree Height with Precision Measurement

Abstract: Tree height measurement precision operation and management for forest resources is a basic work, but also the important basis of evaluating the site quality and tree growth conditions. Altimetry device, compass, theodolite and total station and other equipment were measured 7 different species of tree height, which described its measurement principle and process, and constructed trees for high-precision measurement model. The 30 groups of three for different species according to tree height measurement data comparison and analysis, the tree height automatic precision measurement results: the highest precision total station, theodolite and compass followed, and finally the altimeter device. Using the same instruments to measure different species of tree height, its accuracy was also different. Trunk straight, simple tree canopy had a high accuracy; conifer species than the broadleaf species with high accuracy. The author built the tree height measurement model for the realization of the automation and precision forestry survey had provided a theoretical basis.
