Abstract: In order to explore a new safety and recycle method for un- marketable fruits, the decayed and diseased apple and pear were used as biogas fermentation materials and the performance was investigated. The results showed that both of them could be good materials for biogas fermentation, the total solid (TS) and volatile solids (VS) biogas production rate were 643.24 mL/g and 674.22 mL/g for apple and 421.14 mL/g, 426.74 mL/g for pear, 86.40% TS and 88.20% VS were degraded in apple, 54.45% TS and 59.75% VS were degraded in pear, and the energy conversion rate for apple and pear fermentation were 82.23% and 50.60%.
