Abstract: To study the substitution effect of Eichharinia crassipes for commercial substrate, with air- dried Eichharnia crassipes and fermented Eichharnia crassipes as the experimental material, physicochemical properties of media according to different combination and its influence of cucumber seedling growth were studied. The results showed that when air-dried Eichharnia crassipes replace 50%-100% of the substrate, root system quality, stem thickness, plant height, single plant fresh were better than the control, but emergence rate and SPAD of seedling were lower (P<0.05) than the control. Air-dried Eichharnia crassipes was better than fermented Eichharnia crassipes to make compound media. The correlation between physicochemical properties of compound media and qualities of seedlings showed that both aeration porosity and total porosity of air-dried Eichharnia crassipes had significant negative correlation with emergence rate (r=-0.650*, r=-0.687*), EC had significant negative correlation with emergence rate (r=- 0.332). The treatments of the pure air- dried Eichharnia crassipes mixed with 75% air- dried Eichharnia crassipes and 25% roseite had high resource availability and strong seedlings. Eichharnia crassipes could be used as nursery substrate without composting, that provided favorable conditions for the utilization of Eichharnia crassipes.
