Research Progress of Chilling Tolerance in Maize

Abstract

Abstract: The maize was C4 crop that typically relies on high temperature. Cold stress is an important abiotic factor affecting corn production. In order to study the effects of low temperature on the growth and development of maize, this paper summarized the progress about the change of physiological and photosynthetic parameters, the genetic mechanism of cold tolerance of maize and methods to resist cold damage. It discussed the research direction about cold tolerance of maize, and the authors thought the research on cold tolerance of maize should pay more attention to find and breed cold resistant germplasm resources of maize, and identify the gene of cold tolerance gene and make use of it.
