Abstract: In order to reveal the molecular mechanism of 6-BA on maintaining the growth of rice seedlings roots under nutrition stress, the proteomics approach was used to research the differential protein expression profile in rice seedlings roots. Proteins were separated by two- dimensional gel electrophoresis, twenty differentially expressed proteins that induced by 6-BA were obtained from roots, among which 14 proteins were identified by matrix- assisted laser desorption/ionization- time of flight mass spectrometry. These 14 proteins were categorized into four groups according to functions: 7 proteins were associated with respiration, 4 proteins were associated with growth, 2 proteins were associated with adversity stress and 1 protein was putative protein. The functions of these 14 proteins were analyzed and the conclusion was drawn from the following results: under nutrient stress conditions, 6- BA increased the expression abundance of proteins associated with respiration and growth, enhanced the roots’respiration, and promoted the growth of root.
