The Effects of the Expression Levels of H0-1 and BLVRA on the Color of Egg Shells

Abstract: This study aims to detect the expression difference of HO-1 and BLVRA in, uterine part of Lushi chickens and Gushi chickens, thus discover the formation mechanism of green eggs. To conduct the experiment, Lushi chickens laying green eggs and Gushi chickens laying brown eggs, all of which were 24- week aged, were randomly selected and the uterus of each chicken was collected. Then the total RNA was extracted and later reversely transcribed into cDNA. The pigment-associated genes, HO-1 and BLVRA were chosen to be the target genes, and GAPDH the reference genes. Finally, the transcription levels of HO-1 and BLVRA in different breeds of chickens were analyzed using real- time fluorescent quantitation PCR. The results showed that the HO-1 mRNA expression level in the uterus of Lushi chickens was higher than that of Gushi chickens (P<0.05), and that the BLVRA mRNA expression level in the uterus of Gushi chickens was significantly higher than that of Lushi chickens (P<0.01).
