Abstract: Based on the geographic information system (GIS), the authors used soil distribution map, land utilization map and overlap method of administrative map, combined with the Tell Fay method to identify the affected factors and introduced Analytical Hierarch Program (AHP) and Fuzzy Mathematics Theory (FMT) to synthetically evaluate the farmland fertility and analyze its space distribution for further understanding of the cultivated land fertility conditions in the study area. The results showed that, 15081.28 hm2 farmlands could be divided into four grades, the cultivated land fertility of grade one to four account for 10.12%, 31.52%, 34.08% and 24.28%, respectively. The farmland which belongs to low level (from grade tow to four) was divided into middle and low yield field, and accounted for 89.88% of the total area of the cultivated land. Then, the authors analyzed the different levels of farmland fertility and found out the main limiting factors, in order to confirm the methods and measures of soil improvement and utilization.
