Abstract: In order to find the superior family in seedling stage and to study growth superiority of the fine family of Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis, 191 families of 5 provenances of P. kesiya var. langbianensis were collected and investigated in the seedling stage. The seedling height, ground diameter, germination and height-to-diameter ratio of P. kesiya var. langbianensis were tested. The factors of family and provenance had significant effect on ground diameter, seedling height and height-to-diameter ratio; however, the factors had no significant effect on germination. 24 superior families were selected, and the relevance between clustering classification and provenance was studied by the method of cluster analysis. It was suitable to use cluster analysis to find the superior families.
