Abstract: Autotoxicity was concerned as one of the key reasons for continuous cropping obstacle in Panax notoginseng. Autotoxicity effect of Panax notoginseng rootlets shatter in soil was analyzed in this paper and the main results were as followed: (1)The Panax notoginseng rootlets shatter had ‘low promotion, high inhibition’ concentration effect on germination index, while the adding amount of 10% or less will not have significant inhibitory effect on germination percentage and germination index. (2) The Panax notoginseng rootlets shatter significantly decreased the emergence rate and surviving rate; the results showed that with the adding of powder, the plant height and the flower stalk length decreased, the stem diameter became thin, the quantity of little leaf and the medium-sized leaf’s length and width were obviously decreased, main root length and width were declined and the rootlets length shortened. (3)With increasing of the Panax notoginseng rootlets shatter dosage, the overground part and underground fresh weight, dry weight and total dry weight decreased significantly. The results showed that Panax notoginseng rootlets shatter had obvious autotoxicity effects in the soil.
