Content Determination and Analysis of Amino Acid in Radix Bupleuri Root

Abstract: The aim was to study the nutrient value and health care medicinal effect of Radix Bupleuri. The amino acid content and composition of dry roots of 11 kinds of Radix Bupleuri were tested by L-8900 type amino acid analyzer and analyzed in this paper. The result indicated that there were 17 kinds of amino acids in the tested materials, including 7 kinds of essential amino acids for human body and 2 kinds of essential amino acids for children as well as many kinds of taste amino acids, etc. Tryptophan was not detected because it was destroyed in the process of hydrolysis. The E/N value of amino acid in 11 kinds of radix bupleuri was 0.291- 0.510; the E/T value of amino acid was 22.5%-33.8%, the RAA and RC were numerically close to 1, and the value of SRC was above 80, which was close to 100. The proportions of the essential amino acid to the total amino acid in the roots of 11 kinds of Radix Bupleuri were mostly in accordance with the FAO/WHO amino acid pattern spectrum. But leucine and phenylalanine+tyrosine were moderately short.
