Abstract: In order to carry out the rural residential consolidation project legitimately and guide the rural residential consolidation sequentially, the author used rural settlement land in Yumen City as study object, evaluated the suitability of rural residential consolidation by the method of multi- factor comprehensive evaluation method. The results showed that the suitability of rural residential consolidation of Yumen City could be divided into 3 types. The suitable arrangement type of rural residential area was 1573.58 hm², which accounted for 56.93% of the total area of Yumen City and mainly distributed in Qingquan, Liuhe, Changma, Huahai and Chijin. The basically suitable arrangement type of rural residential area was 908.90 hm², which accounted for 32.98% and mainly distributed in Xiaxihao, Huangzhawan and Yumen. The unsuitable arrangement type of rural residential area was 281.48 hm², which accounted for 10.18% and mainly distributed in Liuhu and Xiaojingwan. The suitable degree was closely related to the economic development, the condition of transportation and the dispersion of settlement. The research results could provide reference for the development of rural residential consolidation in Yumen City.
