Abstract: The paper aims to study the effect of different potassium fertilizers on the growth and Pb and Cd uptake of celery in Pb and Cd contaminated soil. The results were obtained by pot experiments: with the same amount of potassium, citrate soluble potash treatment could obtain the yield which was about 80% of that under water soluble potash treatment in Pb and Cd contaminated soil; citrate soluble potash could increase soil pH about 0.6 to 0.7 units to reduce soil DTPA-Pb and DTPA-Cd content and decrease the absorption and accumulation of Pb and Cd of celery. Therefore, in Pb and Cd contaminated soil, citrate soluble potash could significantly promote the growth and potassium uptake of celery and increase the concentration of potassium. As for its special physical and chemical properties, citrate soluble potash could significantly raise soil pH, thereby reduce the availability of heavy metals in soil, and then decrease the absorption of heavy metals to ensure food safety.
