Abstract: To clarify the condition of Sichuan tobacco industry in the market competition, improve the core competitiveness and promote the sustainable development of tobacco industry, SWOT model was used to analyze the competitive situation of tobacco industry in Sichuan Province from the perspective of influencing elements on the competitiveness. The results showed that the competitive advantages of Sichuan tobacco in the market were natural resources, infrastructure, variety and productive force. Competition disadvantages were production technology, tobacco quality and service system. Through constructing SWOT matrix, the authors put forward the development strategy of improving the core competitiveness of Sichuan tobacco industry market, and provided reference for the development of Sichuan tobacco industry in the future. Results of SWOT economic analysis indicated that the development of tobacco industry in Sichuan was good, conditions for improving the core competitiveness were obtained, and the practical operation was feasible.
