Abstract: To study the antioxidation of the ethylacetate fraction from Aegiceras corniculatum fruit, the scavenging effects of ethylacetate fraction on DPPH and hydroxyl radical were investigated in vitro, total reducing power was determined. The inhibiting effects of ethylacetate fraction on mice RBC (the red blood cell) hemolysis induced by H2O2 and on MDA (malondialdehyde) formation of mice liver homogenate were also examined. The results were as follows: the clearance rate of DPPH and hydroxyl radical of the ethylacetate fraction from Aegiceras corniculatum fruit increased with its mass concentration increasing. Under the concentration of 0.01, 0.05, 0.1 mg/mL, the inhibitory rate of ethylacetate fraction on mice RBC hemolysis by H2O2 inducement was 47.64%, 67.09%, 81.99%, respectively, and under the concentration from 0.5 mg/mL to 2.0 mg/mL, the ethylacetate fraction inhibited MDA production of mice liver homogenate very significantly (P< 0.01) compared with negative control group. Thus, it was clear that the ethylacetate fraction from Aegiceras corniculatum fruit had obvious antioxidant activity.
