Abstract: To study metabolism characteristics of Perinereis aibuhitensis under multiple-contamination and to judge its potential utilization for environment monitoring and bio-restoration, P. aibuhitensis was exposed to multiple-contamination of heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbon for 20 days. Oxygen consumption rate, ammonia excretion rate and ratio of O:N were calculated. The results showed that Cd and petroleum hydrocarbon did not have significant effect on metabolism and metabolic substrate of P. aibuhitensis when the concentration of Cd and petroleum concentration was 0-1.00 mg/L and 0-0.20 mL/L, respectively. Moreover, there was no interaction effect of Cd and petroleum hydrocarbon. As a pollution resistant species, P. aibuhitensis was not sensitive to heavy metal and petroleum hydrocarbon. Its resistance to contamination would be underestimated if it was exposed to contaminations without sand. It was not suitable to monitor the environment only using P. aibuhitensis, and P. aibuhitensis could be used for bio-restoration of multiple-contamination of heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbon.
