Abstract: The paper aims to understand the dynamic and thermodynamic structure and microphysical properties of typhoon precipitation and cloud cluster. The authors studied the horizontal and vertical structure of precipitation of typhoon “Matsa” by using TRMM satellite and NCEP data, and then the temporal-spatial distribution of precipitation measured by TRMM 3B42 was analyzed and assessed. The results showed that: firstly, stratus precipitation made the greatest contribution to the total precipitation, which concentrated below 20 mm/h, and the precipitation distribution had obvious asymmetry; there were two or more strong spiral rainfall belts in typhoon mature stage and the outside one was deeper, which shrank to the center with typhoon strengthened and extended from the typhoon eye to the periphery once it hit land, in addition, the maximum precipitation height decreased with the enhancement of typhoon; secondly, due to the integration of the ground observation precipitation, temporal-spatial distributional characteristics of “Matsa” precipitation measured by TRMM 3B42 products were more similar with that of ground automatic station.
